The Colorado Sleep Institute at Pioneers Medical Center recently received accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) as an A-STEP Introductory Course Provider. This accreditation runs for a two-year period, effective from July 7, 2023 through July 7, 2025.
The Accredited Sleep Technologist Education Program (A-STEP) helps students build the sleep medicine knowledge and training necessary to work as a sleep technician. After completing the A-STEP program, sleep technologist professionals will be able to administer sleep tests to patients, and provide patient care and education at an accredited sleep center.
As an A-STEP Introductory Course Provider, The Colorado Sleep Institute is able to deliver this important information in a condensed timeframe to expedite the success of our students.
There are three parts to the comprehensive A-STEP program that must be completed:
Students who take the A-STEP 80-Hour Introductory Course at The Colorado Sleep Institute will receive a well-rounded sleep medicine education that includes both classroom instruction and hands-on, real-world clinical training.
Upon completing this course, students must pass an online final exam. After passing the exam, the course concludes with a series of Online Self-Study Modules which can be completed on the job or prior to employment.
Becoming an accredited A-STEP Introductory Course Provider is one of the many ways Pioneers Medical Center is able to provide a valuable resource to our community. This program ensures that our sleep technicians are able to deliver the highest quality care to patients throughout the Western Slope who are suffering from sleep disorders.
