Q: Is microdermabrasion safe?
A: Yes. Microdermabrasion is noninvasive and is safe for all skin types and colors.
Q: Does it hurt?
A: Microdermabrasion is a painless treatment; however, the experience varies for individual patients. Though some may experience no side effects, others may experience a mild scratching feeling, itchiness or stinging, or short-term redness or swelling, all of which subside shortly after treatment.
Q: I want microdermabrasion. Where on my body can I have it done?
A: This refreshing treatment can be performed on the face, neck, back, hands, and back of arms to treat and diminish the appearance of stretch marks, acne scars, sun damage, mild discoloration, and fine lines and wrinkles.
Q: What areas can body sculpting treat?
A: Firm up your arms, thighs, and stomach with body sculpting, and say good-bye to bra bulge.
Q: How soon can I return to work?
A: There is no downtime associated with BTL Exilis, the body sculpting technology we use in our office. You may resume regular activity immediately after treatment.
Q: Does treatment hurt?
A: BTL Exilis is painless, noninvasive, and quick. During treatment, you can expect to lie comfortably on an exam table. Your provider will apply oil to your trouble spots and press the Exilis hand piece in a circular motion on your skin. The procedure may feel like a gentle hot stone massage.
Q: How long will treatment take?
A: Laser hair removal is generally a quick treatment that requires no downtime. The length of treatment time depends on the size of the area receiving treatment: the upper lip area takes moments, whereas a larger area such as the back or leg may take around an hour.
Q: Will I experience discomfort during treatments?
A: Most patients describe the sensation associated with treatment as that of a tiny pinprick or the snapping of a rubber band. For extra-sensitive areas, a numbing gel may be applied to minimize any discomfort.
Q: How many treatments should I expect?
A: This varies from patient to patient, but 4–8 treatments are typically needed to completely remove hair from desired areas. Additional maintenance treatments may be performed any time new growth appears.
Q: How does intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy work?
A: IPL is a noninvasive, UV-safe treatment that kills acne-causing bacteria below the skin and stimulates collagen. Rapid, high-intensity pulses of light trigger hyper-pigmented skin and help to even out discoloration.
Q: Does it hurt?
A: No. You may experience a noticeable tingling sensation, which is mild and pain-free. After your treatment you may resume regular activity immediately.
Q: What kind of after-treatment care can I expect?
A: A good rule of thumb is to treat areas where IPL therapy has been performed as you would sunburned skin—avoid sun exposure and apply sunscreen often.
Q: Are Botox injections safe?
A: Yes. Botox has been extensively studied and is approved for cosmetic use in 78 countries. The treatment has been evaluated in clinical studies, and hundreds of peer-reviewed articles can be found in scientific and medical journals.
Q: Is there downtime after treatment?
A: No. Unless your provider specifies any particular aftercare instructions, you are free to resume normal activity immediately following treatment.
Q: How long do the results last?
A: Noticeable results occur 24–48 hours after Botox treatment and may last up to 4 months.
Q: How long will laser vascular lesion and spider vein treatment take?
A: Intense pulse light (IPL) therapy treatment times vary depending on the size of the treatment area. Typically, treatments last between 15 and 45 minutes and require no downtime.
Q: Is it painful?
A: IPL therapy is associated with a low level of discomfort; the pulses are rapid and you may experience the sensation of rubber bands snapping your skin in the treatment area. Over-the-counter medicine may be used to alleviate any mild discomfort or swelling post treatment.
Q: What results can I expect?
A: IPL laser therapy delivers concentrated pulses of light to affected areas in order to heat and damage blood vessel walls. This shrinks the veins, resulting in pain relief and diminished appearance of the veins.
