 Position Title: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR LONG TERM CARE

| Position Description: |
The Assistant Director of Long Term Care assists the Long Term Care Director with:
· Developing the budget
· Using the budget to manage staffing
· Documenting the need for additional equipment and supplies
· Reviewing protocols, procedures, and guidelines
· Would be the Acting LTC Director in the Director’s absence
Management of the Department
· Assists Charge Nurse with day-to-day management issues of the unit- notifies Director as
necessary for staff and resident issues.
· Ensures that necessary equipment checks are being performed
· Assists Director with ensuring that the unit is compliant with all mandatory regulations and
requirements for Long Term Care facilities
· Assists Director with coordinating and providing staff education and in-services
· Is the CNA class coordinator
· As MDS Coordinator is responsible for entering required information on every resident upon
admission, quarterly, and annually.
· At all times maintains professional public image and behavior towards residents, staff and
visitors.
· Consistently adheres to HIPAA guidelines
· Adheres to the standards and policies of the corporate compliance program, including the duty to
comply with applicable laws and regulation, and report to a designated manager (or employer
hotline) any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or practices
Personnel and Supervision
· Takes an active part in the interviewing and hiring process for all new employees
· Contributes objectively to staff evaluations
· Assists Director with assessing educational needs of staff
· Effectively responds to challenges in a positive manner to maintain morale, cooperation and
team spirit.
Planning/Quality
· Assists Director in preparing annual facility objectives and goals
· Assists Director with completing Quality Improvement studies
· Assists Director with preparing for the annual State Nursing Home Survey
Clinical/Staffing
· Assists Restorative Nurse and provides support for the restorative nursing program
· Participates regularly in Resident Care Conferences
· Responsible for orienting new nurses to the Walbridge Wing
· Works day or night shifts on floor as needed in staff nurse capacity; also assists floor nurses
during high volume times during a regularly scheduled shift

 | Education: | Current active Colorado RN License required. BSN preferred but not required based on experience and/or desire to obtain further nursing education. |
 | Experience: | Three years of Long Term Care experience with one year of management experience or five years of Long Term Care experience required. |
 | Special Skills: | Knowledge of MDS system and Restorative Nursing preferred. |
 | Physical Requirements: | Possible exposure to bio-hazardous waste, blood/body fluids, odors, chemical agents,
and explosive gases.
Subject to lifting, walking, standing, and bending activities during the workday. Is expected
to adhere to principles of proper body mechanics.
May be subject to cramped workspaces. Subject to cuts, bruises, falls, and other injury. Is
expected to follow facility safety practices and protocols. |
 | License Required: | Current active Colorado RN license without restrictions required.
BLS required within six months of date of employment or transfer.
Train the Trainer certification required within six months of hire. |
